WinSystem98 from NewTech Software does a wonderful job of monitoring your system, providing info about the following: temperature, memory, processes, your modem, colors, icons and voltages. There are other option tabs as well.
The user can configure the program for English or French using the ‘Misc’ tab. Also, temperature is shown for the motherboard and the CPU, and can be in Celsius or Fahrenheit. The ‘Memory’ tab allows you to configure the program to free up to 70% of memory, and to determine how often this will be done. The program will report on the amount of memory that is being used by each process that’s running, including: Total Memory Used, Total Memory Allocated, Free Blocks and Modules. In the Modules section you’ll find Private and Shared. Of particular interest is the listing of each dll used in the Private section.
You can place the program’s icon on your Task Bar for instant access to the program. Right-click on the menu bar and you have access to all the various settings, giving you an easy way to both monitor and change them.
I’ve never had a problem with WinSystem98 in the 1.5 years I’ve been using it on my Windows 95 system. I would rate it 9 of 10 stars.
