How to speedup your Downloads folder

Do you seem to have to wait a long time for your Downloads folder to load? Sometimes even if you have a lot of RAM and an SSD hard drive your Downloads folder can be incredibly slow.

It’s a pretty easy fix 90% of the time as Windows is just trying to create thumbnails for every item.

Answer: To speedup your Downloads folder

  1. Open File Explorer by holding down the Windows key and press E. You can also click the Explorer icon in your taskbar. It looks like a folder.
  2. Right click on your Downloads folder and select Properties.
  3. Go to the Customize tab
  4. Click General Items from Optimize this folder and click OK

You’re Done!

Your Downloads folder will run a lot faster now. Enjoy!
